All of our apprentices complete a 5-year education program administered by the National Elevator Education Program (NEIEP). Students complete 600 hours of classroom training and over 8000 hours of OJT on the path to journeyman status. Training doesn’t stop there, with over 40 continuing education classes available, learning can last a lifetime. Always staying on top of the ever-changing world of vertical and horizontal transportation.
Local 4 takes pride in knowing that its members are the most highly trained and skilled elevator constructors in the business.
The application process and recruitment is run through the National Elevator Industry Educational Program (NEIEP). Keep an eye out on the NEIEP website for more information on the next recruitment.

APPRENTICE IDs
Please check your apprentice ID’s now for the date of expiration.
Checks or money orders should be made out to LOCAL 4 for $35.91.
The State is now charging a processing fee of 91 cents which we cannot waive.
State ID’s are now virtual – you will not receive a physical card going forward in 2026.
